Morphogenesis: A Mob Rules from the Rear
نویسندگان
چکیده
The giant ciliated protozoan Stentor coeruleus is re-emerging as a model organism for morphogenesis and patterning in unicellular organisms. A new study provides evidence that cytokinesis and morphogenesis are mechanistically linked through the Mob1 protein.

Characterization and Evolution of the Cell Cycle-Associated Mob Domain-Containing Proteins in Eukaryotes
The MOB family includes a group of cell cycle-associated proteins highly conserved throughout eukaryotes, whose founding members are implicated in mitotic exit and co-ordination of cell cycle progression with cell polarity and morphogenesis. Here we report the characterization and evolution of the MOB domain-containing proteins as inferred from the 43 eukaryotic genomes so far sequenced. We sho...
متن کاملDrosophila Mob family proteins interact with the related tricornered (Trc) and warts (Wts) kinases.
The function of Tricornered (Trc), the Drosophila Ndr (Nuclear Dbf2-related) serine/threonine protein kinase, is required for the normal morphogenesis of a variety of polarized outgrowths including epidermal hairs, bristles, arista laterals, and dendrites. In yeast the Trc homolog Cbk1 needs to bind Mob2 to activate the RAM pathway. In this report, we provide genetic and biochemical data that D...
متن کاملبررسی اثر مهارگرهای مسیرهای انتقال پیام داخل سلولی بر میزان بیان CXCکموکین IP-10/Mob-1 توسط هپاتوسیتها
Introduction: Chemokines are low molecular weight proteins (8-17kDa) with the main role of immune cells recruitment to injured tissues. IP-10/Mob-1 is a CXC chemokine and different cell systems in response to external stimulation produce this chemokine. Various signaling pathways are used by cell and tissue systems to regulate production of proteins e.g. chemokines. Therefore we have investigat...
متن کاملA Chick Embryo in-Vitro Model of Knee Morphogenesis
Background: In this feasibility study, a mechanically loaded in-vitro tissue culture model of joint morphogenesis using the isolated lower extremity of the 8 day old chick embryo was developed to assess the effects of mechanical loading on joint morphogenesis. Methods: The developed in-vitro system allows controlled flexion and extension of the chick embryonic knee with a range of motion of ...
متن کاملCDK-dependent phosphorylation of Mob2 is essential for hyphal development in Candida albicans
Nuclear Dbf2-related (NDR) protein kinases are essential components of regulatory pathways involved in cell morphogenesis, cell cycle control, and viability in eukaryotic cells. For their activity and function, these kinases require interaction with Mob proteins. However, little is known about how the Mob proteins are regulated. In Candida albicans, the cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) Cdc28 and t...
